We made this fun Candy Camping Cake for my husbands birthday this past week. He just got done restoring a vintage Travel Trailer & we had so much fun in it on our 1st camping trip a couple of weeks ago. You can view our adventure along with 20+ of the Best fun food Camping ideas for Kids HERE!
We used little candies we had on hand in our kitchen to make this cake. My boys had a lot of fun with this and kids can come up with all sorts of animals to create out of different candy!
We made a replica of our vintage camper out of a jumbo marshmallow, fruit roll up, mini chocolate chip (for the wheel) & a little bit of frosting....
We made a little Owl out of a Caramel & Marshmallow bit. We used a orange sprinkle for the beak & black edible marker to make the eyes. We used a chocolate graham cracker for the picnic table...
We used blue frosting for the water. Green frosting for the grass. We made little squirrels from caramel bits & little acorns using chocolate chips. We made a fire pit by cutting pieces of Starburst & put them inside a chocolate pretzel ring. We used a graham cracker for fishing ramp. We used a tooth pick for the rod, floss for the line, & orange spindles for the fish...
We also made a big & scary Bear (my boys insisted) from a Tootsie Roll, chocolate chip for the nose, & sprinkles for the mouth/teeth. We had also made a fantastic big tree, but it fell apart while we were putting it on so we were left with a mini tree. Leaves made out of green Tootsie Rolls. Here is another shot of the marshmallow Camper & Tootsie Bear....
Here is the big birthday boy with a fantastic hat that my boys made for him!ha
